It is designed specifically to run on farmyard manures and slurries although a simple modification allows the Green and Pleasant Farm Digester to co-process these with other biodegradable wastes such as food waste, or energy crops for increased, or specialised biogas production. This modification can be supplied on installation, or as an inexpensive retrofit should the operator change strategies. When AD plants take in food wastes incomes can be significantly increased through gate fees, increased electricity and Renewable Obligation Certificate (ROC) sales or Feed in Tariffs (FiTs), and increased fertiliser production.
